Saltaire (pronounced “salt air”) is a village in Suffolk County, New York. It is located on the barrier island known as Fire Island, off the South Shore of Long Island. The village is approximately sixty miles southeast of Midtown Manhattan. Saltaire is one of the smallest villages in New York State by population., there were an estimated 150 full-time residents in Saltaire. In the summer months, the village population increases exponentially. Saltaire is one of three villages located on Suffolk County barrier islands.
